A long forgotten song
While I was rummaging through a very old backpack, I suddenly recovered a boarding pass and an e ticket of one of my flights to London. Almost a year ago now, and I suddenly remembered that sitting at the airport lounge that night, I had utilised my ticket and penned down a few words behind it. I hope I'll finish this song someday and maybe put some music to these lyrics. Until then, its here for safekeeps.
Oh and yes - this is just for the heck of it, maybe the reason why I could not complete it then. Its very rightly said that songs are written in moments of inspiration ;) Maybe I have yet to be inspired for this!!
I think I'd like to begin this on C, but I'll keep my options open :P
Words fail me day and night
You're not here with me but that's alright
And as I speak into the phone
You're oh so near
I've been waiting for a sigh
I've been searching, why o why
I hear your voice on the phone
And dream that you are here
The times gone by
The days of yore
They're back again
Just like before
So much for that! And then I fell asleep. This was almost a year ago now! And I remember as soon as I got to office in London that time - I had to go to that God forsaken town in Yorkshire that is called Leeds! I have still not been able to understand how people can actually come in that town to settle down and work long term! I was there for just about 5 weeks and I think I had to travel to London every weekend to keep me going Monday through Friday! But I guess this just happens to be another of those innumerable things that I cannot fathom!
Oh by the way - today's been the perfect Saturday! Went out very early in the morning for a game of cricket - came back by about 12 - had a quick brunch and dozed off big time! Just woke up an hour ago, and now - time out! Heading out to meet up with A, D, and M (One of them happens to be the rock of Gibraltar I mentioned a long time ago!!)

Wish List ... continued
Oh and how could I forget Mama said!
That one song - James Hetfield sure bares his soul out in it.
ohh and for the lesser informed - that's Metallica again!
Peace

Wish list
I would if I could -
Nirvana - The man who sold the world
Metallica - Nothing else matters
Hoobastank - The reason
Staind - Its been a while
Metallica - Fade to black
Staind - Outside
Hoobastank - If I were you
Deep Purple - Soldier of fortune
Lynyrd Skynyrd - Sweet home Alabama
Creed - With arms wide open
and of a different kind -
Saxophone
Flute
Violin
Sitar
Tabla
Closer to practical life -
Lets just keep it to
The man who sold the world,
Nothing else matters,
Its been a while,
Soldier of Fortune,
Fade to black,
With arms wide open
Aye yes!
So what if I got back to doing what I love most after more than 4 years of staying away!
So what if I can play the drums?
So what if I can play the harmonica?
So what if I can fiddle with the keyboard?
So what if I can strum a bit?
I know I can do a better job without the need for an instrument.
So what if I can't sing in my mother tongue?
--- What else is a wish list ! :)
Rock on!

Merry Christmas!
Christmas has never been the same ever since the good old school days! There have been some standout days in the recent past, but otherwise, its the regular Santa and Rudolf stories and carrols all day long. "Silent night" and "Away in a manger" happen to be 2 that I really like!
And there was another one that sung about the 3 kings - not sure which one that was. I'd sure like to get my hands on it to hear it again! I remember G used to sing it in school!
But never you mind - my thoughts currently go back to much more recent times than the school days - to 4 years ago... I was on a flight to Delhi on the evening of 24th, along with S1 and S2 - lets keep it simple without names :)
The fog in Delhi is known to disrupt flights... and ours happened to be the first of the evening to not be able to land (boo hoo was my first thought... ). The captain announced we'll head to Mumbai to stay overnight. S1, who was awake and chatting with me, burst into a river of tears! My gawd! Why and how could she!! But nevertheless... some consolations later, there was this school girl who was traveling alone on the seat in front of me. And having nobody sitting with her, she was constantly turning to look at S1 and S2 for some support, and having none forthcoming, she had to bank on me. And as soon as I said a few words of comfort, Strike 2! There goes another girl, barrage broken beyond repair. Amidst all of this commotion, while I was running out of kerchiefs and words to handle 2 ladies, S2 wakes up (yes! she was fast asleep during all this!!). Until that day I had perceived of her as a very capable and mature person, but I guess God willed me to see the true colors :P
She asked around as it was just about 5 minutes from the scheduled arrival at Delhi. And as soon as I said we're heading to Mumbai instead, there you go! Strike 3!
Anyway, eternal moments after I was sitting in the middle of three sobbing ladies, the captain's voice crackles again through the PA system of the aircraft. Lo and behold, the night's just getting interesting! No hotel bookings available in Mumbai! (Can you imagine that!!!!!). What now? Off you go - back to Pune! Finally landed at the same strip at 11 after having taken off barely some 4 odd hours earlier. Nevertheless - we headed to a nice hotel, gate crashed - well almost, into a party, had fun in the foyer and welcomed Christmas with great enthusiasm.
The morning after - some incidents, better left unmentioned at least on my blog! Yeah yeah! the dreaded wardrobe malfunction. Phew! It was an "enlihtening" experience to say the least!
But nevertheless, I did end up getting home by about 2 the next day (not without its own share of interesting incidents - that I'll probably never write here!!) to be welcomed to a sumptuous feast! Ah! heaven :)
Oh and by the way - the third strike on that flight still happens to be my magic mantra whenever S2 tries getting nasty with me :P
Oh and yes, fate has it and we're still working together!
And Christmas last year! Ah now that was a nice one! The weekend getaway to the country side in Wales. D and M, along with U and S (all engg school friends) and O and G (friends from work) - we'd all hired a cottage (I think it was the Plas-y-Nant) over the Christmas weekend. It was a nice break from the humdrum of London. A fireplace to keep you warm - the ladies cooking dinner while the men did what they do best! ;)
It was good fun, yes no doubt about it! Though M had stocked up groceries at Sainsbury's before we left London as if the world was ending the next day! Oh did I forget to mention we had to bring back a carload of this all the way back? :P
Women! Can't live with them, can't live without them!
I guess that's a good enough trip down memory lane, and I'll let my fingers rest awhile after the clickety clickety clack on the laptop. Food for thought. Or merely food for an empty tummy!
Oh and yes! I do visit my blog occasionally even when I'm not writing! :)
and for all the people who put in comments and do not have their profiles public - your comments are read and appreciated, and responded to on my blog here itself!
Merry christmas and a Happy New Year!

Flashback...
A little under a year. Seems like a lifetime ago now! That fateful day. The day I survived.
Ever wondered how it feels when people tell you that its a miracle that you're still alive? Trust me... it sends shivers down your spine!
50 mph is a decent enough speed to ram into a tree, and I'm not saying the fact that a yard before or after that spot and the consequences could have been much graver!
Shattered and with shivering legs, I try and inspect the damage to the car. Get in it. Close my eyes. Hear a loud crash as the car bumper hits the bark of the tree. I manage to gain control only enough to prevent further damage. The car starts skidding on the highway. The steering wheel turns free. I bump into a nasty pothole (or is that too small a word for it?). The silly motorcyclist getting up on the highway without looking left or right. The smooth drive... The lovely weather... The aweosme breakfast!
My car... my best friend! I don't think I coud ever sell this one off! The fact that it had to undergo surgery for almost a month speaks epitomes about the gravity of the situation!
But even thinkning about it now as i write, it does make my legs wobbly. Maybe that is the reason I now cherish each moment even more so than I used to.
Peace!

Moments in Time
Is it not strange? You bump into people unexpectedly... Touch their hearts... they touch yours... have a ball... and then move on...
Makes me think of Linkin Park's "My December". Or does the music system just know what to play to compliment my mood!
3 months ago I penned a few lines... and here I am again today!
------------------------------------------
The dust settles again
The feathers that ruffled it far far away
Would I care to dream
Of the times that held me in their sway
Moments in time
Etched forever in memory
Moments in time
Precious and beautiful
Moments in time
Only a distant image
Moments in time
I'll never see them again
The awakening from a dream
Into stark reality
Stripped of all bearing
A nakedness so strange
As the mist falls on the sunny days
Winter is here, there might be snow
I wonder why then
Is my life white before the snowfall
Moments in time
So pure and naive
Moments in time
The firsts and the bests
Moments in time
The lasts but still the bests?
Time moves on, moments do not
I might move on, but others might not
So I thought a long long time ago
Only to realise how wrong I was
